Indiana Pacers vs Washington Wizards Preview, What to Watch

On Wednesday, the Indiana Pacers go to the nation's capital to play the lowly Washington Wizards in the final game before each team's All-Star break.

As it concludes the unofficial first half of the season against the NBA-worst Wizards, Indiana, who has dropped three of its last four games, is hoping to start the week off well.

On Tuesday, the Pacers lost 128-115 to the New York Knicks in Indianapolis. Although Indiana only made 29 percent (9-for-31) 3-pointers, coach Rick Carlisle wants to see improvement on the other end of the court. 53.8 percent of the Knicks' shots came from the field.

All-Star Pascal Siakam, who scored 24 points in the defeat and is averaging 20.8 points this season, was a bright spot for Indiana on Tuesday and throughout the campaign.

In seven out of the last eight games, Siakam has scored more than 20 points. He leads Indiana in both scoring and rebounding (7.4 per game). Tyrese Haliburton contributes 8.5 assists and 17.8 points a game.

The Wizards have lost three straight games since starting February with a season-high three-game winning streak. Washington, which is headed for its worst season in team history, has a good chance of earning the top overall pick in the NBA draft.

The Wizards, who averaged 117.3 points in February, have been in offensive form lately. When Washington lost to the San Antonio Spurs 131-121 at home on Monday, nine players scored in double figures, continuing the upward trend.

Jordan Poole led the Wizards with an average of 20.7 points per game despite having a difficult game, making only 4 of 18 shots. Washington will be more dependent on Malcolm Brogdon (12.7 points per game) and Bilal Coulibaly (12.6) to cover for second-leading scorer Kyle Kuzma, who was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

 

Charlotte Hornets vs Orlando Magic Preview, What to Watch

When the Orlando Magic wrap up a three-game homestand against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, they'll be hoping for a more evenly distributed effort across the roster.

In Monday's 112-106 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Magic were reduced to the two-man show of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

Banchero scored 31 points and Wagner scored 37, matching a season best, on a 25-for-51 field goal shooting effort (7 of 17 from 3-point range). Sadly for Orlando, the other players on the team could only score in the single digits.

He then sat out versus the Detroit Pistons on Sunday because of left ankle soreness and missed the final three quarters of a 97-89 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday due to right ankle soreness.

Moussa Diabate scored a career-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds on Monday before exiting with a right eye abrasion.

Rookies Tidjane Salaun and KJ Simpson made significant impacts on Monday, with the former scoring 16 points while the latter had nine to go along with nine rebounds.

Injuries and a woeful shooting performance from 3-point range (19.4 percent), however, contributed mightily as Charlotte fell for the eighth time in nine games.

 

San Antonio Spurs vs Boston Celtics Preview, What to Watch

The Celtics have one of the greatest records in the NBA thanks to their depth in scoring. When the San Antonio Spurs travel to Boston for their final game before All-Star Weekend, they will have to contend with that Wednesday.

Boston's top scorers are Jayson Tatum (26.9 points per game), Jaylen Brown (22.9), and Kristaps Porzingis (19.1), but Sam Hauser has also been putting up some impressive shooting lately.

After making 34.1 percent of his 3-point attempts in his first 16 games of the season, Hauser has now made 44.5 percent of his attempts in 29 games. He will start Wednesday's game hitting 40.5 percent from three-point range and averaging 7.6 points in 19.9 minutes per game.

Boston has lost three of its previous four games at home, but has won six of its last seven games overall. The Celtics' home record is a respectable 16-10.

Bringing Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox to the game on Wednesday, San Antonio will have a potent 1-2 scoring punch. Since being acquired from the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal on February 3, Fox has averaged 21.3 points in four games for the Spurs, while Wembanyama is averaging a team-high 24.4 points per game.

The Spurs and Celtics will play each other twice during the regular season, starting with this game. On March 29, the teams will also play in San Antonio.

 

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Toronto Raptors Preview, What to Watch

When the Cleveland Cavaliers play the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, they have the luxury of trying out different strategies in the hopes of making it to the postseason.

The Cavaliers have defeated the Raptors in their first three encounters this season and are now leading the Eastern Conference by 5 1/2 games.

Toronto defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 106-103 on Tuesday to wrap up a three-game road trip and snap a four-game losing run. With 33 points and 10 rebounds, Scottie Barnes led the Raptors.

The Raptors signed Brandon Ingram to a three-year, $120 million contract deal on Tuesday, completing one of their trade deadline transactions from the previous week.

On February 6, Ingram arrived from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for two draft picks, Bruce Brown, and Kelly Olynyk.

Since early December, Ingram has been out due to a strain to his left ankle. Jakob Poeltl (hip) and RJ Barrett (return to competition condition) were also unable to play in Philadelphia.

After one quarter, Toronto had a 26–18 lead, which had an impact.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Brooklyn Nets Preview, What to Watch

For different reasons, the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are not living up to preseason predictions.

The 76ers are significantly below.500 going into a Wednesday away game against the Brooklyn Nets, who are enjoying their finest run of a rebuilding season, and are predicted to compete for a high postseason seed.

Philadelphia is 2-0 against the Nets this season, but they are a season-worst 13 games below.500 going into the final game before the All-Star break because they can't always count on Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George to be available at the same time.

The Sixers are headed for their first losing record since the 2016–17 campaign, when they finished 28–54, unless they make a significant turnaround in their final 29 games.

Since Embiid scored 28 points in a 123-94 victory over Brooklyn on January 4, Philadelphia has lost four straight games, six of seven, and is 6-14 in its last 20 games.

Despite Embiid's 27 points and 12 rebounds in his 17th game, the Sixers lost to the Toronto Raptors 106-103 at home on Tuesday. After falling behind 17–4 in the first five minutes, Philadelphia rallied to take the lead at the half, but they were unable to make a game-winning or tying basket in the final ninety seconds.

Embiid might miss Wednesday's game because he hasn't played both ends of a back-to-back this season. The Sixers will rely on Maxey and George, assuming both are available, if Embiid sits once more.

Maxey has scored at least 30 points in eight of his last ten games, despite being restricted to a season-low five points on Tuesday. Nurse appeared to believe the guard was playing through an injury following the Raptors loss.

Brooklyn's 7-game losing streak was the result of a 1-12 skid, which included a lopsided loss in their most recent match with Philadelphia.

The Nets are 5-1 since the skid's last game. The Nets held the opposition to 41 percent shooting or less in each of those wins, and they gave up fewer than 100 points.

Brooklyn defeated the Charlotte Hornets 97-89 at home on Monday, their most recent impressive defensive performance. The Nets reached 19 victories, more than many preseason forecasters had predicted, after outscoring the Hornets 51-35 in the second and third quarters.

With 16 points on Monday, Nic Claxton led six Brooklyn players in double digits. Claxton is doubtful for Wednesday due to a sprained right ankle, despite having scored in double figures in five of his last six games.

In their upcoming NBA game, the Miami Heat will visit the home court of the soaring Oklahoma City Thunder. With 18 more victories than their guests, who are ranked sixth in the East, the Thunder lead the Western Conference standings. Our prediction for this match is below.

The Thunder are continuing their great winning run. The NBA's top team right now is Mike Daigneault's squad, which consistently wins. They have won six straight games.

Last time out, OKC, who had a 43-9 record that leads the league, thrashed the Pelicans 137-101. They scored more than 130 points for the third time in these six games.

Despite scoring 12 points against the Pels, Chet Holmgren is not available for the Heat as he continues to make a slow comeback from a protracted injury.

The Heat are looking to snap a three-game losing streak against Oklahoma City after losing the first game 104-97 at home before to Christmas. This season, Erik Spoelstra's team has been inconsistent and is now one game below.500.

They have lost two straight games after losing to the Celtics and the Nets. They were restricted to less than 90 points and had offensive difficulties in both defeats.

The Heat suffered their 26th defeat of the season last time out, losing 103-85 at home to the Celtics.

While Kevin Love is away, Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez are dubious for this trip.

 

Sacramento Kings vs New Orleans Pelicans Preview, What to Watch

In an attempt to end a nine-game NBA losing run, the flailing New Orleans Pelicans will host the Sacramento Kings. The Pelicans are 15 games behind their visitors in ninth place and are at the basement of the Western Conference rankings. Our prediction for this match is below.

This is the first of the two clubs' back-to-back games in New Orleans. The Pelicans are once again the team with the worst record in the Western Conference.

Willie Green's club has lost 41 of its 53 games this season due to injuries that have plagued them. There is just one other squad in both conferences with a worse record.

To cap off a four-game road trip, the Pelicans, who have only played twice at home during this losing skid, were crushed 137-101 by the Thunder.

The Kings' performance has improved recently, and they will visit with the intention of causing their hosts even more suffering. The last two games have been won by Doug Christie's team.

They are starting a three-game road trip after a dramatic 129–128 overtime victory in Dallas. The Kings had defeated the Pelicans 123-118 at home to end a two-game losing streak before to their victory over the Mavericks.

Sacramento has defeated New Orleans in each of their meetings. They will take home the series' spoils with one more game to go if they win here.

 

Milwaukee Bucks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview, What to Watch

To reclaim their swagger in the NBA, the struggling Milwaukee Bucks travel to play the Minnesota Timberwolves. While their hosts sit seventh in the Western Conference, the Bucks come into this game with the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference. Our prediction for this match is below.

Following a humiliating loss to the high-flying Cavaliers, the Timberwolves are looking to resume their winning ways. In Cleveland, Chris Finch's team lost 128-107, ending a three-match winning streak.

They fell to six games over.500 after this, their 24th loss of the season. Alongside Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley is labeled as questionable after missing the previous two games. 

In his last three games, Edwards has scored 40 points or more.

The Bucks are not playing well. They are coming off a loss and have dropped six of their past eight games. During this eight-game run, Doc Rivers' club, which has a 28-24 record, has lost nearly all of its games versus West teams.

The Warriors trounced the Bucks 125-111 at home, and the Bucks have lost their previous three trips to the West. Giannis Antentokunmpo is anticipated to be sidelined after the All-Star break after missing the previous five games.

The last time they visited Minneapolis, the Bucks prevailed 112-107.

 

Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Preview, What to Watch

On the second night of their NBA back-to-back, the Detroit Pistons will travel to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference going into this game, while the Pistons are in sixth. Continue reading to see our prediction for this game.

On the opening night of this back-to-back, the Pistons dominated the Bulls by 40 points. They lost by more than 30 points for the second time this season.

With their biggest win of the season on Tuesday, the Pistons will be confident of winning back-to-back games in Chicago. This season, J.B. Bickerstaff's team has made significant progress and appears headed back to the postseason.

They have won their last three games and have a 28-26 record overall. Malik Beasley set the franchise's all-time three-point record in the victory over the Bulls by making seven of ten three-point shots.

The Pistons are attempting to win the season series after defeating the Bulls twice in their last three games.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz Preview, What to Watch

In Wednesday's NBA action, the Utah Jazz (12-40) will welcome the Los Angeles Lakers (32-19) at the Delta Center. In the Western Conference standings, the Lakers are in fourth place and the Jazz are in fourteenth. This is our prediction for the match. 

A slim victory of 131–128 over the Golden State Warriors on February 6th gave the Utah Jazz faith that they would begin winning games on a regular basis. 

That hasn't been the case, though, as the Jazz have fallen back into their old ways of losing games. The Los Angeles Lakers' 132-113 away loss was the most recent of such setbacks. 

Their third-worst defensive system in the league allowed them to give up more than 130 points in each of those games, and the outcome was their third straight loss. 

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers have been winning games on a consistent basis. The team has won six straight games going into this matchup.

The most recent of those victories was a resounding 132-113 victory at home over the Jazz, who they held to 46.4% from the field while shooting 54.3% overall.

The Lakers have partially, but not entirely, lived up to expectations when playing abroad. They enter this game having won three straight against the Wizards, the Knicks, and the Clippers, and they have a balanced 13-13 record in 26 games.

 

 

Portland Trail Blazers vs Denver Nuggets Preview, What to Watch

With seven games in a row, the Denver Nuggets have the longest winning streak in the NBA and their finest run of the year.

In the final game before both teams' All-Star break, Denver will visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night in an attempt to extend their winning streak.

The match is the second of the teams' two-game set. In Monday's first game, host Denver thrashed the Trail Blazers 146-117.

The Nuggets set season highs in field goal percentage (65.9) and points (146). Christian Braun scored 26 points on 12 of 14 shots, and Nikola Jokic scored 40 points on 15 of 22 shots.

While falling just two points short of his career high, Braun was excellent at cutting to the hoop for easy baskets and freelancing.

The offense's recent flow has impressed Denver coach Michael Malone. The Nuggets' performance on Monday marked the third game in the winning run that they scored 137 points or more.

Due to an injury to his left hamstring, Russell Westbrook will miss his eighth consecutive game.

After winning 10 of its last 11 games, Portland has lost the first two of a three-game road trip.

The Trail Blazers were crushed by the Nuggets after losing 114-98 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

At Denver, Portland's top two scorers were backups. In just 21 minutes, rookie big man Donovan Clingan scored a career-high 21 points on 8 of 8 shooting, while Dalano Banton scored 22 points.

Clingan had not scored in double figures since January 9th, when he scored 11 points against the Dallas Mavericks.

With starter Deandre Ayton sidelined due to a left calf strain sustained in Monday's game, Clingan will be seeing a lot of play on Wednesday. Robert Williams III (knee), another large man, is also disqualified.

Scoot Henderson will not play since he hurt his right ankle on Monday. Due to a right knee injury, Jerami Grant missed Monday's game and is doubtful for Wednesday.

 

Golden State Warriors vs Dallas Mavericks Preview, What to Watch

Wednesday's NBA game between the Dallas Mavericks (28-26) and the Golden State Warriors (27-26) will take place at American Airlines Center. In the Western Conference standings, the Mavericks are ranked eighth and the Warriors are ranked tenth. This is our prediction for the match. 

The Dallas Mavericks narrowly lost 129–128 at home in overtime on Monday, despite a fierce battle against the Sacramento Kings.

Spencer Dinwiddie scored 20 points during the game, while Kyrie Irving led the squad with 30 points. They shot 40.5 percent from three-point range (3PT%) and 51.6 percent from the field as a team.

The Mavericks are inconsistent going into this game. 

They were limited to less than 120 points in four of their last six games, and they have lost four of those games. 

However, following two straight losses to the Lakers and the Jazz, the Golden State Warriors have changed their ways.

They have won two straight games going into this matchup, including a resounding 125-111 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on the road on Monday. Jimmy Butler scored 20 points during the game, while Stephen Curry led the squad in scoring with 38 points.

When playing away from home, the Warriors have won two straight games. The club had lost three straight games before to this run. 

 

 

Memphis Grizzlies vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview, What to Watch

The Los Angeles Clippers (29–23) play the Memphis Grizzlies (36–17) on Wednesday to complete their four-game homestand at Intuit Dome. The Grizzlies are in second place and the Clippers are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. Now let's make our match prediction. 

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Utah Jazz 130-110 at home on Saturday, marking the team's eventual return to winning ways. 

The Clippers were beset by inconsistency prior to this victory, losing three straight games to the Pacers, Lakers, and Raptors. They were held to less than 120 points in those contests.

With nine victories in 13 games, their home record has been encouraging. 

They should have little trouble winning consecutive games at home when they take on the Grizzlies, whom they defeated 117-106 in December 2023.

However, on Tuesday, the Grizzlies defeated the Phoenix Suns 119–112 on the road.

The Grizzlies have been playing quite well lately. They have won five of their past six games going into this matchup, and in five of those games, they have held their opponents to fewer than 120 points. 

They have won five of their previous six games away from home, and they can make life tough for the Clippers. Interestingly, they have won three straight games.
