Los Angeles Lakers vs Washington Wizards Preview, What to Watch
In an attempt to get back to winning ways in the NBA, the LA Lakers will travel to Washington, DC, to play the dreary Washington Wizards. While their hosts are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, the Lakers come into this game with the fifth-best record in the Western Conference. Our prediction for this match is below.
The Wizards have dropped their last 15 games. Surprisingly, their losing streak this season isn't the longest. Currently holding the two worst losing streaks of the season, Brian Keefe's team is just one victory away from matching their worst losing run.
When the Wizards returned home from a six-game road trip, they were completely destroyed by the Raptors in their most recent game.
Washington lost 106-82, becoming the first club to drop 40 games this season.
A week ago, the Lakers won 111-88 at home against the Wizards. They went on a four-game winning streak after that victory, which the Sixers ended last time out.
They will go into this game with the confidence of winning because they have already defeated their next hosts five times in a row. LA has a 26-9 record, with 10 of their victories coming away from home.
This journey to Washington is probably going to be missed by Anthony Davis. The forward was pulled in the first quarter after suffering a stomach injury in Philadelphia.

Houston Rockets vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview, What to Watch
In their Western Conference matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, the Houston Rockets are looking to accomplish something they haven't done in 15 years.
The regular-season series should be swept.
The previous two games have been decided by four points or less, although Houston won the first three, beginning with a landslide victory at Houston on October 25 (128-108).
Additionally, the Rockets' streak dates back to the start of 2025, even though both teams come into the game having won seven of their previous nine games.
Houston has won 10 of its last 12 games since January 5 and is now on a four-game winning streak. Houston is currently ranked second in the Western Conference and 1 1/2 games ahead of third-place Memphis.
After defeating Boston 114–112 on Monday thanks to a franchise-high 10 3-pointers from Dillon Brooks, the Rockets defeated Atlanta 100–96 on Tuesday after gaining a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter and overcoming a ferocious comeback by the Hawks.
In the meantime, the New York Knicks decisively ended the Grizzlies' six-game winning streak on Monday, defeating them 143-106, Memphis' worst loss of the year. The Grizzlies made 26 turnovers, and the Knicks scored 36 points off of those errors. Additionally, Memphis allowed 17 offensive rebounds, which led to 28 points.
Desmond Bane, a guard who is typically sure-handed, made a team-high six mistakes.
Thompson has made his contributions, as well. Since Jan. 5, he is one of only four players in the NBA averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Returning home after Monday's road game may prove beneficial to the Grizzlies. They are 19-5 at FedExForum and recently completed a sweep of a four-game homestand. Their last home loss came Jan. 9, 119-115 to the Rockets.
Additionally, Thompson has contributed. He is one of just four NBA players who has averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists since January 5.
The Grizzlies may benefit from coming home following Monday's road game. They just finished a four-game homestand sweep and are 19-5 at FedExForum. The Rockets defeated them 119-115 at home on January 9.

Orlando Magic vs Portland Trail Blazers Preview, What to Watch
The Orlando Magic have faced some unforeseen obstacles in their quest for health.
Despite having its best players back, Orlando has lost six of its last seven games. However, the Magic believe a turnaround is on the horizon as they prepare to play the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night.
After losing Paolo Banchero to a torn oblique on October 30 and Franz Wagner to the same ailment on December 6, Orlando had a difficult start to the season. On January 10, Banchero returned, and 13 days later, Wagner did the same.
However, winning basketball hasn't resulted from having Banchero and Wagner back on the court, and Wagner blames some of Orlando's problems on the recent lineup adjustments.
Still, Wagner has seen flashes of the Magic's full potential, even in a 125-119 double-overtime loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night.
Wagner finished with 29 points and eight rebounds against Miami, while Banchero crawled to 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting. Reserve Tristan da Silva also netted 17 points for Orlando.
The Magic are now just waiting for Jalen Suggs to be good to go. Suggs missed 10 games due to a back injury and returned for a win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, but now he's dealing with a quad contusion that held him out of the loss to the Heat.
One of the setbacks during Orlando's rut came against Portland, a 101-79 decision last Thursday.
With February quickly coming, the Trail Blazers have been playing well, winning five of their last six games.
Damian Lillard's second game in Portland after moving to Milwaukee was spoiled Tuesday night when Portland defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 125–112. In addition to Deandre Ayton's double-double (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Anfernee Simons' 25 points, Deni Avdija scored 30 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Trail Blazers.
Portland seems to be finding its footing, according to Avdija. Only 6 1/2 games separate the Blazers, who are 18-29 on the season, from a Western Conference play-in tournament berth.
Orlando's da Silva and Portland's Scoot Henderson have been chosen to take part in the Castrol Rising Stars showcase, giving the Magic and Blazers something to look forward to at All-Star Weekend in just over two weeks.
Henderson, a second-year player, is scoring 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists a game this season, while da Silva, a rookie, is averaging 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
