Indiana Pacers vs San Antonio Spurs Preview, What to Watch
The San Antonio Spurs will look to build on their most impressive offensive showing in two seasons Saturday when they square off against the Indiana Pacers for the second of two meetings in the NBA's Paris Games.
The Spurs rolled to a 140-110 win Thursday in the series opener, outscoring Indiana 45-23 in the third quarter after leading by just three at halftime. It was San Antonio's most points in a game this season and its largest output since scoring 142 in an overtime win over Sacramento on April 2, 2023.
The series in the French capital has been a happy homecoming so far for Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs' 21-year-old superstar center.
In his 32 minutes on the field on Thursday, Wembanyama scored 30 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, gave out six assists, and blocked five shots, providing a wealth of highlights and game-winning plays.
At 10:11 in the fourth quarter, Wembanyama even played with Indiana a little, dunking a pass to himself off the glass.
San Antonio led 105-80 going into the last quarter and let the Pacers to never pull within 18 points of them again. The Spurs ended a three-game losing run with 25 points from Devin Vassell, 20 from Harrison Barnes, and 13 from Jeremy Sochan.
In the win, San Antonio made 18 of 36 shots from beyond the arc and shot 60.4% from the field.
Indiana only shot 45.4 percent for the game after struggling in the second half. With 24 points, Bennedict Mathurin led the Pacers, followed by Pascal Siakam with 18, Myles Turner with 14, Tyrese Haliburton with 13, and Obi Toppin with 13.
A two-game winning streak for the Pacers was ended. They have only lost twice in their last ten games, including Thursday's loss. Up until Thursday, Indiana had only once in its last nine games allowed more than 115 points, and only once this season had it gave up 40 points or more in a quarter.
Denver Nuggets vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview, What to Watch
For Nikola Jokic, the star of the Denver Nuggets, everything has been going well.
Jokic will attempt a sixth consecutive triple-double on Saturday when Denver travels to Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has already recorded five consecutive triple-doubles.
In a 132-123 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, Jokic created history by recording 35 points, 22 rebounds, and 17 assists. He joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only player in league history to post at least 35 points, 20 rebounds, and 15 assists in a single game.
Throughout his triple-double run, Jokic, a three-time MVP, has averaged 23.2 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game.
Jokic, however, is unwilling to claim sole responsibility for Denver's recent triumph. Russell Westbrook, a seasoned guard who started the season off the bench, has been a perfect fit in the starting lineup, and he has been grateful for what he has contributed.
In order to maintain composure during the Timberwolves' turbulent first half of the season, Minnesota has been depending on Mike Conley, a seasoned guard of their own.
Conley has been stressing the importance of sticking together when the Timberwolves face hardship, and he is optimistic that Minnesota is beginning to turn around.
Minnesota ended a mild two-game losing streak Wednesday by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 115-114. Conley finished with 18 points and eight assists, Anthony Edwards contributed 21 points, and Jaden McDaniels led the Timberwolves to victory with 27 points on 10 of 18 shooting.
The teams will play one other for the second time this season on Saturday. On November 1, the Timberwolves defeated Denver 119-116 thanks to 29 points from Edwards.
Donte DiVincenzo, who has missed the last four games due to a toe injury, will be out for at least three more weeks for Minnesota.
Boston Celtics vs Dallas Mavericks Preview, What to Watch
When the Boston Celtics visit the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, they will be attempting to avoid dropping their second straight game of the season.
On Thursday, Boston lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 117-96. In terms of the final margin, it was Boston's worst loss of the season and their fifth game in seven nights.
After a loss, the Celtics have usually been able to recover. This season, their only consecutive losses came against Philadelphia (118-114) on December 25 and Orlando (108-104) on December 23.
The Celtics haven't been playing basketball consistently, though. With Thursday's loss, Boston's record in the previous ten games is at 5-5. Boston is currently 7-5 in January after finishing 8-6 in December.
Despite playing with fewer players for the majority of the season, the Mavericks are still a threat. Dallas defeated Oklahoma City 121-115 on Thursday to demonstrate that.
The Mavericks were without Naji Marshall (illness), Klay Thompson (ankle), Dereck Lively II (ankle), Dwight Powell (hip), Dante Exum (wrist), and Jaden Hardy (ankle) in addition to Luka Doncic, who is still out due to a left calf strain.
Both of Dallas' wins during that run came against Oklahoma City, and the team has lost five of its previous seven games. In their victory on Thursday, the Mavericks made 45.2 percent of their 3-point attempts (14 of 31). Kyrie Irving set the standard by making four of his eight 3-point tries.
Detroit Pistons vs Orlando Magic Preview, What to Watch
The Detroit Pistons, who are on the rise ahead of their game against the host Orlando Magic on Saturday, are obviously enjoying life on the road.
After defeating the Atlanta Hawks 114-104 on the road on Wednesday, Detroit won for the 12th time in its past 16 games. Leading the pace with 29 points and 11 assists was Cade Cunningham.
In addition, Detroit has won seven of its previous eight away games and four in a row. The Pistons' road performance is all the more remarkable considering they are among the NBA's newest clubs.
For the Pistons, who are aiming for their first postseason appearance since 2019, Cunningham is averaging 24.6 points and 9.4 assists. In his last 12 games, center Jalen Duren has averaged 12.1 points and 11.3 rebounds.
According to Duren, confidence is one of the reasons the team has been successful on the road.
Detroit will play Orlando, which has dropped five straight and seven of its previous eight games, as part of its ongoing five-game road trip.
The Magic lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 101-79 at home on Thursday, allowing them to score a season-low number of points. Orlando made 24.0 percent of 3-pointers and 34.2 percent of field goals.
After missing 20 games because of a ruptured right abdominal muscle, Magic forward Franz Wagner made a comeback and scored 20 points in 24 minutes against the Blazers.
With a minutes restriction, Orlando is gradually reintroducing star Paolo Banchero to the field. After recovering from an oblique injury, Banchero has participated in seven games. In the defeat against Portland, he scored eight points on one of fourteen shots.
Gary Harris (left hamstring), Cole Anthony (sickness), and Goga Bitadze (concussion protocol) were all unavailable on Thursday; the Magic are keeping an eye on their condition.
Toronto Raptors vs Atlanta Hawks Preview, What to Watch
At State Farm Arena on Saturday, the eighth-place Atlanta Hawks will play the 13th-place Toronto Raptors for the second time in three nights. Atlanta has a 22–22 record going into this game, while Toronto is second from the bottom with a 12-32 record. Let us begin the forecast of the match.
The Raptors defeated Atlanta 122-119 on the road Thursday, their fourth victory in the previous five games. With four victories in their previous five games, Toronto is currently enjoying its greatest run of the 2024–25 campaign.
Over the past two weeks, the Raptors' defense has been especially impressive, allowing just 108.0 points in their last five games, including a 110-97 victory over Boston, the reigning champions, at home.
The hosts enter this match looking to halt a three-game losing streak, while their opponents are on the rise.
In the loss, Atalanta gave up at least 50% of the field goal percentage for the third consecutive game, allowing Toronto to shoot 58% from the field. The Hawks are ranked 30th in the NBA in terms of opponent 3PT% and 28th in terms of opponent FG% overall.
The hosts have now dropped six of their past ten games, including their last two consecutive at home. Atlanta's season-long home record is now 11-9.
Houston Rockets vs Cleveland Cavaliers Preview, What to Watch
In the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets will play each other for the second game in four days on Saturday night. The Cavaliers lead the Eastern Conference with a 36-8 record, and the Rockets are in second place in the Western Conference with a 29-14 record. Let's analyze this game and make a prediction!
Cleveland is now beginning to show signs of weakness after a scorching start to the 2024–25 season. They have dropped two straight games and four of their previous seven games.
After losing 134-129 to Philadelphia on the road last night, they will now have to play the second half of a back-to-back. Despite shooting 48% from beyond the arc and making 52 three-pointers, the Cavaliers lost because neither team was able to make any baskets.
For for the second time this season, Cleveland has now dropped two straight games.
The Rockets will be looking to replicate the kind of performance that helped them defeat Cleveland 109-108 in their matchup this past Wednesday.
Houston recovered well from the victory, and they have now won seven of their past ten games overall.
However, that outcome occurred in the Rocket's home gym. The Cavaliers, who have an impressive 21-2 record, will now have to travel to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Sacramento Kings vs New York Knicks Preview, What to Watch
The NBA's most renowned venue will host the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. The Kings (23-21) are ranked ninth in the West, while the Knicks (29-16) are ranked third in the East. Now let's begin predicting the match!
In an attempt to close the distance on the dominant Cavaliers, New York can win three in a row. The Knicks are currently only two games behind the Celtics in second place, but eight games behind Cleveland.
In their most recent game, they defeated the Nets 99-95 on the road in Tuesday's Battle of the Boroughs. With that victory, they improved their home record to 14-8 and their away record to an amazing 15-8.
The Kings have soared up the rankings as a result of their recent blistering form. With 10 victories in their last 12 games, Sacramento is currently two games ahead.500 and just two games behind the Lakers, who are in fifth place.
However, the Kings lost 132-123 to Denver on the road on Thursday, ending their three-game winning streak with yet another outstanding performance from Nikola Jokic.
In their last ten games, Sacramento has improved their offensive output, scoring an average of 124.4 points per game. With 117.0 points per game as a result of that run, they are now the fifth-highest scoring team of the season.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Chicago Bulls Preview, What to Watch
In Saturday night's NBA Eastern Conference game, the 10th-place Chicago Bulls and the 11th-place Philadelphia 76ers square off. The struggling 76ers had a 16-27 record going into this game, while Chicago has a 19-26 record. Let us begin the forecast of the match.
The past two weeks have been difficult for the Bulls. They are currently clinging to the last play-in berth after dropping to seven games below.500.
Chicago lost to the Warriors 131-106 on the road Thursday, their sixth loss in the previous seven games. In that game, Golden State made 25 three-pointers and shot 43% from beyond the arc.
At 120.2, the Bulls are allowing the second-highest number of points in the NBA. Their typically strong offense hasn't been playing well lately, though, as they've only averaged 107.4 points per game over their last five games.
Last night, the 76ers defeated the Cavaliers, who were in first place, 132-129 at home, one of their best performances of the 2024–25 campaign. The outcome was much needed by Philadelphia, who had just finished a seven-game losing streak.
If the Sixers want to have any chance of making it to the postseason, they will probably need to focus on the play-in. They are now 1.5 games behind the Bulls.
Utah Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview, What to Watch
Saturday night's NBA Western Conference matchup between the out-of-tune Utah Jazz and the raging Memphis Grizzlies will take place. The Jazz are at the bottom of the West rankings with a 10-32 record, while Memphis is in third place with a 30-15 record. This is our prediction for the match!
Here at the FedExForum, the Grizzlies will play the second half of a back-to-back. They defeated the Pelicans 139-126 at home on Friday night, demonstrating their unmatched attacking prowess.
In that victory, Memphis scored 54% from the field and 45% from three, demonstrating why they are the league's top scoring club with 123.3 points per game.
The Grizz didn't miss a beat, even without Ja Morant, who was sidelined by sickness.
With an 18-5 record in their own gym, the hosts are among the league's most formidable home teams.
MVP front-runner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scorched the Jazz by 54 points in their most recent game, a 123-114 loss to the Thunder on the road. Utah has fallen to last place in the Western Conference rankings and has now lost four straight games.
Jordan Clarkson and John Collins, two of the visitors' top five scorers, are among the many players on their long injured list.
Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Preview, What to Watch
On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers in an NBA matchup in California. The Lakers are now in fifth place with a record of 24-18, while the Warriors enter this game in 11th place in the Western Conference standings with a 22-22 record. This is our prediction for the match.
Golden State defeated the Bulls 131-106 at home on Thursday, looking like the old-school Dubs squads. They made 25 three-pointers, their second-highest total of the season, and shot 44% from beyond the arc.
Golden State also ended a two-game losing streak with the victory, but they have now dropped six of their previous ten games.
Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga will not be playing for the Warriors due to a number of injuries.
Lately, the Lakers have been playing well. They defeated the reigning champion Celtics 117-96 at home on Thursday, securing a huge victory.
At this point, Los Angeles has won four of their last five games overall and the last two in a row. They have now kept their opponents to only 101.8 in their previous five games, demonstrating their strong defensive play.
The Lakers have performed admirably at home, but they have had trouble away from home, winning only eight of their 20 games.
Milwaukee Bucks vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview, What to Watch
Early on Sunday morning, the Milwaukee Bucks travel west to Los Angeles to play the Clippers. Prior to our prediction for the game, the Bucks are 25-17 and in fourth place in the East, while the Clippers are 25-19 and in sixth place in the West.
The Clippers, who are 2-2 in the first four games, are playing their last game in a five-game home stand. The Celtics had to play overtime to defeat them after they had already won five straight games, with their only defeat coming against the Chicago Bulls.
This season, they have a 16-8 home record, putting up all of their greatest work at the Intuit Dome.
Although they haven't scored many goals, just two clubs have, on average, given up less points.
Despite their 8–10 road record, the Bucks are in excellent form overall. They have won eight of their previous nine games and five in a row. The sole defeat throughout that period came from a crushing defeat on the road in New York, which ended in a score of 106-140.
It should come as no surprise that, in terms of pounds given up, that was their poorest performance of the season. They are ninth in the league for average points against, but overall they are a strong defense.
