Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons Preview, What to Watch

Washington Wizards vs Charlotte Hornets Preview, What to Watch

The Washington Wizards have little to show for a rough season, although they do have a rare opportunity Monday to earn a second consecutive victory when they visit the Charlotte Hornets.

The Wizards have won just seven games this season, with the most recent of those Saturday in a 105-103 road victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, when Kyle Kuzma scored a season-high 31 points.

The result halted a 16-game losing streak and improved Washington 2-21 in road games.

The next trick for the Wizards will be trying to win two games in a row, something they've done once this season and not since late October.

Minnesota's 103 points reflected the lowest total of the season allowed by Washington.

With the franchise record of 67 losses from the previous season looming, the Wizards needed something good to build on. Before the All-Star break, they had already suffered 41 losses.

The Hornets' losing streak now stands at four games after their 107-104 home defeat to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

Before the Nuggets scored the final seven points of the game, the Hornets had recovered from a 16-point hole in the second half to take a four-point lead with less than a minute remaining.

After missing two games due to a left foot injury, center Mark Williams returned to action for the Hornets. He contributed 15 rebounds and 20 points.

Charlotte's backcourt may now be suffering yet another setback. Vasilije Micic left the game on Saturday due to a left ankle injury. LaMelo Ball is already out for the Hornets due to an ankle injury, and it is unlikely that he will return until at least midweek.

Over the weekend, Corey Kispert, a swingman with the Wizards, reached a career milestone by scoring 3,000 points. In his 274th game, he did so.

After missing the previous three games due to an ankle injury, it is uncertain if center Alex Sarr will play for the Wizards.

Washington's home victory over the Hornets on December 26 was 113-110. Jordan Poole scored 25 points in that game for the Wizards, but he has only done so three times since, including once after missing five of seven games at the beginning of January.

Houston Rockets vs New York Knicks Preview, What to Watch

On Saturday night, the New York Knicks' quest for the ideal homestand came to an end.

They can only hope that their long-term goals were not hampered by OG Anunoby's early departure.

In a matchup of possible NBA title contenders, New York may be without its starting forward on Monday night as it wraps up a five-game homestand against the Houston Rockets. Josh Hart, a teammate, is also classified as questionable due to right knee pain, while Anunoby was labeled as questionable due to a right foot sprain on Sunday's injury report.

After losing at home on Saturday, both teams had Sunday off. The Brooklyn Nets stunned the Rockets 110-98, and the Knicks lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 128-112.

Anunoby's exit overshadowed the conclusion of New York's five-game winning streak. He received a wing pass from Jalen Brunson, but after planting his right foot just past the 3-point line, he groaned and fell to his left knee. With 10:38 remaining in the third quarter and New York behind 62-57, he left the game.

After walking unassisted to the locker room, Anunoby had X-rays taken, which came back negative. In more than 16 minutes on Saturday, he finished with 13 points and two blocks. He has averaged 16.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in all 49 games this season.

The ninth-year veteran is also considered as the best defender on the Knicks, who entered Sunday in third place in the Eastern Conference, two games behind second-place Boston.

Counting the playoffs last season, New York is 58-23 with Anunoby in the lineup and 14-17 without him since he was acquired from the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 30, 2023.

The Knicks won the first two games of their Eastern Conference semifinal series last spring against the Indiana Pacers with Anunoby, who missed the next four games with a strained left hamstring and was limited to four-plus minutes in a 130-109 Game 7 loss.

On Monday night, Houston might not have their best lineup when they play. Alperen Sengun, an All-Star center, had a left calf contusion during Tuesday night's 100-96 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, and the Rockets have now lost two games in a row without him. For the game on Monday, he is listed as questionable.

In the second quarter on Saturday, Houston also lost point guard Fred VanVleet due to a soreness in his right ankle. After VanVleet was injured, the Rockets fell down 39–32 and lost the rest of the first half by a score of 14-6. Against the Nets, who won for just the fifth time in 20 games since Christmas, they fell down by as many as 22 points in the third quarter. VanVleet was not allowed to play in the game on Monday.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Oklahoma City Thunder Preview, What to Watch

The Milwaukee Bucks' next NBA game will be away against the Oklahoma City Thunder. While their hosts are leading the Western Conference, they have fallen to fifth place in the Eastern Conference going into this game. Our prediction for this match is below.

Last time out against the Kings, the Thunder firmly returned to their winning ways. Mike Daigneault's team crushed the visiting Kings 1144-110 for their 38th victory of the season after losing three of their previous six games.

They still hold a firm hold on the Western Conference despite their recent shaky play. They have a 20-3 record at home and have only lost nine games.

The Bucks haven't been playing well lately. They are currently on a three-match losing streak and have dropped four of their previous five games.

The Grizzlies trounced Doc Rivers' team 132-119 after they made a brief trip home the previous game. They will be hoping that things improve soon as they set out on another brief road trip.

The Bucks, who have a 26–20 record, fell one spot in the East standings after their defeat to Memphis. Milwaukee has dominated this game against Oklahoma City and has won eight of their last 11 meetings.

Sacramento Kings vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview, What to Watch

In their upcoming NBA game, the Minnesota Timberwolves will take on the struggling Sacramento Kings. They are 2.5 games ahead of their visitors in 10th position in the Western Conference going into this game. Continue reading to see our prediction for this game.

The Timberwolves recently suffered an unexpected defeat against the Wizards, 105-103. The Wizards had lost 16 straight games, and they were winning five of them.

It is also reasonable to keep in mind that Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Edwards, and Julius Randle were not present for Chris Finch's team during the defeat. DiVincenzo is completely ruled out, and the three are still listed as injured.

Two of Minnesota's victories against Sacramento have contributed to their 27–22 record.

In the most recent encounter, the Kings triumphed over the T-wolves. They want to rise to the challenge once more and win this series. In November, they defeated Minnesota 115-104.

On a six-match road journey, Doug Christie's team has had trouble. In their last five games, they have only managed one victory.

The high-flying OKC Thunder crushed the Kings, who have now lost back-to-back games, 144-110 in their most recent game.

In Oklahoma, De'Aaron Fox, who was scoring a team-high 25 points per game, scored 20 points. For the squad that drafted him, this ended up being his last game. Since then, Fox has been traded to the Spurs in San Antonio.

San Antonio Spurs vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview, What to Watch

The faltering San Antonio Spurs will be the next NBA team the in-form Memphis Grizzlies host. They are more than ten games ahead of their visitors in 12th place and come into this game with the second-best record in the Western Conference. Continue reading to see our prediction for this game.

The Grizzlies are back in second place out West and are playing fantastically. With eight victories in their previous nine games, Taylor Jenkins' team has improved to a 33-16 record.

The Grizzlies, who trail conference leaders OKC by six games, recently defeated the Bucks 132-119 on the road.

Ja Morant is unlikely to play against SA after missing his second straight game with a shoulder injury. This season, Memphis has defeated San Antonio in both encounters.

The Spurs are having trouble and have dropped nine of their last 12 games. The team has been compelled to look into the trade market as a result of this unsatisfactory run of outcomes.

In need of additional scoring, Gregg Popovich's team traded for De'Aaaron Fox, who has averaging 25 points per game for the Kings this season. Victor Wembanyama may be unable to travel because of illness, but Fox is expected to be part of this trip.

The Spurs, who currently have the 11th-worst record in the NBA, lost to the Heat 105-103 at home.

Indiana Pacers vs Utah Jazz Preview, What to Watch

The next NBA team to play is the Utah Jazz, who will entertain the Indiana Pacers. While the Pacers are up to fourth in the East, they now have the worst record in the Western Conference. Our prediction for this match is below.

The Jazz will be looking to start a consistent winning run after ending an eight-game losing streak last time out. For their eleventh victory, Will Hardy's team defeated the visiting Magic 113-99.

Given their impressive performance in Indiana in January, the Jazz will be confident of winning here despite their 36 losses. In their first encounter of the season, the hosts, who have defeated this opponent six times in their prior nine games, defeated them 132-105.

Due to their subsequent trades, Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills will not be joining the squad.

The Pacers are in excellent form and will go into this game with the expectation of winning. Rick Carlisle's team has been reliable and has only lost twice in their last 13 games.

They have risen in the East rankings with a 27–20 record as a result of this outstanding run. The Pacers won their third straight game at home, defeating the Hawks 132-127.

With only Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman, two longtime absences, ruled out, Indianapolis is nearly at full strength.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Denver Nuggets Preview, What to Watch

In their upcoming NBA game, the Denver Nuggets will host the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans come into this game with the second-worst record in the Western Conference, while the Nuggets come in with the fourth-best record. Continue reading to see our prediction.

After a patchy five-game road journey, the Nuggets are back at home. Despite losing three of the five games, Mike Malone's team finished the trip with consecutive wins over the Hornets and Sixers.

In their most recent game, the Nuggets defeated the Hornets 107-104. So far, they have won 30 out of 49 games. They will have a 2-1 lead in this four-game series against the Pels if they win again.

The Pelicans have lost five straight games. They now have the third-worst record in the league (12-37) as a result of their most recent downturn.

The Celtics defeated Willie Green's team 118-116 to wrap up a brief two-game homestand. The Pels have suffered greatly from injuries this season, missing many of their best players for extended periods of time.

The injury report for this trip includes six players. Along with Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones, Dejounte Murray is also gone for the season. Daniel Theis and Zion Williasmon are dubious.

Phoenix Suns vs Portland Trail Blazers Preview, What to Watch

As the Phoenix Suns witnessed firsthand, the Portland Trail Blazers have been playing excellent basketball lately.

In the final game of a two-game series in the Pacific Northwest, Phoenix will now get another chance to play when it returns to Portland on Monday night.

In the opening game on Saturday, the Blazers won 127-108, taking a 27-point advantage and winning for the seventh time in their last eight games.

With 24 points on 11 of 12 shots, Trail Blazers center Deandre Ayton served as a reminder to his old Phoenix colleagues of his presence.

Ayton spent five seasons with the Suns after being selected as the first overall pick in 2018. He has been with Portland for two seasons.

Ayton scored 20 points or more for the fourth consecutive game. Over this time, he is averaging 22.3 points and 11 rebounds.

In the last two games, he has also made 21 of 24 shots. During Thursday's 119-90 thumping of the Orlando Magic, Ayton made 10 of 12 shots.

Chauncey Billups, coach of the Trail Blazers, expressed satisfaction with Ayton's performance against the Suns on Saturday.

Before Saturday, Portland had lost to Phoenix four times in a row.

The Suns' defeat was only their fourth in their last 13 games overall.

Devin Booker failed to put Phoenix back in the game despite scoring 37 points, his second consecutive 30-point performance.

Durant scored 22 points, and in 24 of the last 25 games, he has scored 20 points or more.

However, the Suns ruined any genuine chance they had of winning on the second end of a back-to-back by giving up 98 points in the opening three quarters. One night prior, Phoenix defeated the host Golden State Warriors 130-105.

Players on both teams' benches were more interested in the commotion and rumblings of the crowd than in watching garbage time during the last few minutes of the game because it was so lopsided.

The first rumors that Anthony Davis was moving to the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic was being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers were dismissed by those fans.

At first, Durant wasn't sure what to think. Then a Suns security guard showed him a phone that he had borrowed from a fan.

Orlando Magic vs Golden State Warriors Preview, What to Watch

When the Golden State Warriors face the Orlando Magic on Monday night, they aim to end what was thought to be the best part of their schedule with at least a winning record.

When Golden State started a nine-game run that would never leave California on January 18, they were 20-20 and trying to climb up the crowded Western Conference standings. Actually, eight of the nine games took place at home.

Losses against the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns have thus far offset victories over the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

With 12 of their next 14 on the road after the Magic visit, the Warriors remain a .500 team and now find themselves closer to the worst record in the West than to the best.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr made one thing clear even before Friday's 130-105 home thumping dealt them by the Suns: His bosses need to do something.

In their first meeting with the Magic this season, the Warriors will be seeing basically their Eastern equivalent. Orlando's record is slightly worse at 24-26, but its position in the standings is slightly better with the East having fewer winning teams.

Unlike Golden State, the Magic find themselves in the heart of their most difficult sequence of games this season. This will be their fourth stop on a six-game trip, but with the oasis of seeing 10 of 11 at home in their near-future.

While falling at Miami, Portland and Utah in the past week, the Magic have gotten encouragement from the continued good health of star Paolo Banchero, who missed 34 games with a torn right oblique.

He has played 11 straight games, enduring as many as 44 minutes in last Monday's loss at Miami, and now has gone five in row alongside talented sidekick Franz Wagner, who missed 20 in a row with his own oblique injury.
